What cookies are

Cookies are small text files set by a website in your browser. Most sites also use localStorage, a related browser storage API, for similar purposes. This page describes what DoctorSpeak stores in your browser and on third-party sites that support it.

Session cookies (localStorage)

DoctorSpeak stores an anonymous session identifier in your browser's localStorage under the key ds_session. It is generated by your browser on first visit, never tied to your name or email, and used to correlate page views and analytics events within a single visit. It is not a real HTTP cookie — only a localStorage value — but for transparency we list it here alongside cookies.

Analytics cookies — PostHog

If you have opted in to analytics, PostHog may set first-party cookies (ph_* cookie identifiers) to record page views and events. PostHog is loaded client-side from PostHog's canonical host. The PostHog server key is controlled by the POSTHOG_API_KEY environment variable and is never configured with personally identifying data. If you have not opted in, PostHog cookies are not set.
