A patient who presents to the ED or is admitted frequently, often for chronic conditions or social issues.
How It's Used on the Ward
"They're a frequent flyer" - the staff recognizes them by name.

Clinical Context
While common, this term can carry bias. Focus on why they keep coming back rather than labeling. Often indicates gaps in outpatient care.
