Pre-round
Formal Definition
To see your patients before attending rounds, review overnight events, and prepare for presentations.
How It's Used on the Ward
"I need to pre-round on my patients" means checking on them early morning.
Example
"Alarm at 5:15am. Pre-round starts at 5:45. See your patients, check vitals, review overnight labs, and have your presentation ready by 7am rounds."
Clinical Context
Pre-rounding is the M3 morning ritual. You'll see patients 1-2 hours before the team to be prepared. Speed and efficiency come with practice.
