Formal Definition
The process of the medical team visiting each patient, discussing their status, and making management decisions.
How It's Used on the Ward
"We're rounding at 8" or "Save it for rounds" - the daily ritual.
Example
"Morning rounds: the team gathers, walks room to room. The student presents, the intern updates, the resident guides, the attending teaches and makes decisions."
Clinical Context
Rounds are where you learn medicine. Your performance on rounds (presentations, knowledge, enthusiasm) determines your grade. Be prepared.
