Tachy / Brady
Formal Definition
Tachycardic (fast heart rate, >100 bpm) / Bradycardic (slow heart rate, <60 bpm).
How It's Used on the Ward
"The patient is tachy" is much faster to say than "tachycardic." Used constantly.
Example
"Nurse: "Room 302 is tachy to the 130s." You: "I'll be right there. Any other vitals changes?""
