Formal Definition
Being rapidly quizzed on medical knowledge, usually on rounds, with the intent of teaching through interrogation.
How It's Used on the Ward
"The attending pimped me on DKA all morning" — means I got drilled on it.

""Heard Dr. Reyes likes to pimp on the nephrotic syndrome workup. Review the proteinuria differential tonight — you'll be asked about it tomorrow.""
Clinical Context
Pimping is a tradition in medical education. Some attendings are Socratic; others are harsh. Being pimped doesn't mean you failed — it's a teaching method. The right answer: "I'm not sure, let me look that up and get back to you."
